2.1 Application

The separators are under specified conditions, see chapter
"Installation and assembly", determined exclusively for ground
installation outdoors or underneath the bottom plate in a well
ventilated area.
The separator may be used to restrain directly separable fats
and oils of vegetable and animal origin from wastewater of
commercial or industrial establishments.
The stability of the tank is only guaranteed for its own weight,
for transport and for the described installation in accordance
with the intended use (e.g. load class, road construction build-
up). Additional loads from single or strip footings or other exter-
nal actions must be avoided. If such actions are to be expected,
it may be necessary to take special measures.

2.2 Use

Animal and vegetable oils and fats must not be discharged
into the public waste disposal facilities and surface water, as
in cooled condition they cause cross-sectional constrictions
and blockages of the waste pipes. Furthermore, after a short
decomposition time there form fatty acids which lead to odour
nuisance and affect pipelines and structures of drainage sys-
tems. The solidified fat layer on the water surface also inhibits
the necessary supply of oxygen in water and wastewater tre-
atment plants.
The DIN 1986 Part 1 calls for the retention of harmful substan-
ces. For these reasons, a grease separator according to DIN
4040 or EN 1825 should be provided, which must be disposed
of accordingly.

2.3 Separator description

The KESSEL Grease Separator EasyClean ground Standard
consists of a grease separator with integrated sludge trap. The
separator as well as the internal components are manufactured
from polyethylene (PE).
The separator's upper section(s) are manufactured from polyp-
ropylene (PP). Due to the smooth, wax like surface of the mate-
rial polyethylene, no additional protective coating is necessary.
The separator is designed to be installed underground at a
predetermined depth (below the frost level) and with the selec-
ted load class manhole cover (Class A, B or D). Technical data
relating to the separator can be found on the type label located
on the exterior of the separator body.
