1.1 Goggles and protective gloves
When handling the battery, always wear goggles and protective gloves! (See also, Setting up the device). Avoid battery acid coming
into contact with skin, eyes or clothes, since battery acid is highly corrosive. If battery acid gets in the eyes, immediately rinse with
plenty of water. In such instances, after rinsing, immediately consult a doctor. Acid splashes on the skin must immediately be removed
with soap and water. Acid splashes on clothing will result in holes!

1.2 Scope of use

The charger is suitable for charging ordinary lead/acid batteries as well as maintenance-free batteries. The batteries must be suitable
for the voltage and charging current specified on the charger.
The charger may not be used for batteries that cannot be recharged.
The charger may not be used as a voltage supply for devices.
1.3 Connection
The mains power cable and charging cable must be in perfect condition. Do not shorten or lengthen the charging cable. In the event
of damages to the mains cable, it may only be replaced by a specialist. Repairs to the charger may only be carried out by specialist
personnel.
2 Operation

2.1 Setting up the device

Do not place your battery charger on flammable materials whilst charging!
The device becomes warm when it is in use. Set the charger up so that it is well ventilated. Never cover the ventilation slots! The
charger is only approved for use indoors. Protect device unit from wet and damp conditions. If the device becomes wet, there is a
risk of hazardous electric shock. When charging the battery, the battery acid generates small amounts of gas. This is normal. The gas
formation in the battery can be seen by the formation of bubbles. Caution, the bursting gas bubbles cause acid to be splashed in the
vicinity of the battery. Always following the notes regarding connection of the device, otherwise sparks may be generated which
could cause the gas to explode (detonate). At the same time, the device should not be operated in the vicinity of naked flames. Never
smoke when handling the battery! Always ensure for good ventilation since the gas is capable of exploding.
2.2 Preparing the battery
Please note: Only charge ordinary 12 or 24 Volt lead/acid batte-
ries. Do not charge batteries that are not rechargeable. This device
is not suitable for batteries with a capacity in excess of 180Ah.
Please use a higher performing charger from our range. Only
charge intact batteries. The charging time will depend on the
charge state of the battery. This may be determined by measuring
the density of the acid with an ordinary acid siphon. If you have
a permanently sealed, maintenance-free battery, it may not be
opened up. It is not possible nor is it necessary to check or correct
the state of the acid. In order to charge the battery, all caps must
first - if possible - be removed from the battery cells, see Figure:
Now check the state of the acid in the battery cells. The level of
the acid should still be approximately 0.5 - 1 cm above the lead
plates in the battery cells. If not, distilled water must be refilled.
Tap water may not be used. With an increasing charge, the level of the acid increases. To ensure that the battery does not overflow,
the acid may not be filled to the maximum mark at the start of the charging process. The caps may only be replaced after the charging
process is complete. Only so is it possible for the gases generated during charging to disperse. The escape of small amounts of acid by
way of splashes during charging is unavoidable.
2.3
Charging
2.3.1
Charging the battery in a removed state
Make sure that the mains power switch on the rear of the device is set to OFF
(see Figure) and the plug of the charger is not connected to the power socket.
The power must be interrupted.
Connect the red plus cable to the plus pole of the battery,
labelled either „+" or „P".
