SOUND FIELD PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS
This unit is equipped with a variety of precise digital decoders that allow you to enjoy multi-channel playback from
almost any sound source (stereo or multi-channel). This unit is also equipped with a YAMAHA digital sound field
processing (DSP) chip containing several sound field programs which you can use to enhance your playback experience.
Most of these sound field programs are precise digital recreations of actual acoustic environments found in famous
concert halls, music venues, and movie theaters.

The YAMAHA CINEMA DSP modes are compatible with all Dolby Digital, DTS, and Dolby Surround sources. Set Input Mode to
Variable(Auto) (see page 44) to enable this unit to automatically switch to the appropriate digital decoder according to the input signal.

HiFi DSP processing. A large round concert hall with a rich surround effect.
Pronounced reflections from all directions emphasize the extension of
sounds. The sound field has a great deal of presence, and your virtual seat is
near the center, close to the stage.
HiFi DSP processing. This is the sound field at stage front in "The Bottom
Line", a famous New York jazz club. The floor can seat 300 people to the
left and right in a sound field offering a real and vibrant sound.
HiFi DSP processing. The ideal program for lively, dynamic rock music.
The data for this program was recorded at LA's "hottest" rock club. The
listener's virtual seat is at the center-left of the hall.
HiFi DSP processing. This program recreates the acoustic environment of a
lively disco in the heart of a big city. The sound is dense and highly
concentrated. It is also characterized by high-energy, "immediate" sound.
Use to increase the output stereo sources (in stereo) from all speakers. This
provides a larger sound field and is ideal for background music at parties,
etc.
