2.5 The Built-In Sound
Effects Circuit

The built-in sound effects circuit

reproduces the sounds of a steam
locomotive in operation, and these
sounds vary with the level of operation
the locomotive is at. This sound
effects circuit can be turned on and
off with a switch in the tender.

Important:
Since this sound effects circuit re-
quires a minimum voltage supply,
it is designed only for operation with
Märklin Digital or Delta. When the
locomotive is being run with conven-
tional AC or DC power, the sound
effects circuit does not produce
audible sound until the locomotive
has reached a certain speed. Electri-
cal disturbances in the track can
cause the sound to be distorted. We
therefore recommend that the sound
effects circuit be used only when the
locomotive is being run with Märklin
Digital or Delta operation.

2.5.1 Setting the volume

A pot adjustment (P3) on the circuit
plate is used to regulate the total
volume of the sound effects circuit.
Remove the tender body for this
(see page 47).
