Operation

2.1 Function
This locomotive has a built-in digi-
tal electronic circuit and offers the
following features:
• The following modes of operation
are possible with this model:
I. Conventional AC power
operation, example:
with a 32 VA transformer.
II. Conventional DC power
operation (max. 18 volts DC).
III. Multi-train operation with the
Märklin-Delta-system (only
with the 6607 Delta-Station).
IV. Multi-train operation with the
Märklin-Digital-system (only with
the 6021 Control-Unit 6021).
This locomotive is not designed for
operation with other systems such as
pulse width control or the earlier Märklin
Central-Control1 Central-Unit (no. 6030).

• Automatically recognizes conven-
tional and Digital / Delta operation.
The choice between AC power
and DC power in conventional
operation is set manually on the
circuit board or on the switch for
the mode of operation on the
underside of the tender.
• 80 Digital (4 Delta) addresses can
be set with coding switches.
Address set at the factory: 56.
• Adjustable maximum speed.
• Adjustable acceleration / braking
delay. The electronic circuit for the
locomotive is designed in such a
way that the braking delay will not
work in conventional operation.
• Headlights change over with the
direction of travel and can be turned
on and off in Digital operation.
During conventional operation
the brightness of the headlights
depends on the speed of the
locomotive. The headlights are on
constantly when the locomotive is
operated with the Delta-Station.
• Only possible with operation with
Digital / Delta: steam locomotive
sound effects module that can be
turned on manually.
• Built-in smoke generator, can also
be turned of in digital operation
with the 6021 Control-Unit 6021.
• The lighting for the engineer's cab
is turned on in parallel with the
smoke generator.
• Only possible with operation with
the 6021 Control-Unit:
– Sound of a locomotive whistle
can be turned on and off.
– Sound of a locomotive bell
can be turned on and off.
– The acceleration/ braking delay
can be reduced to a minimum
with one of the auxiliary function
buttons.
• Reproduction prototype coupler
mounted on the front, claw coup-
ler mounted on the rear. Replace-
ment couplers are included for
both ends of the locomotive.
• Minimum radius required for ope-
ration: 1,020 mm / 40-5/32". This
radius can be negotiated by the
train only when the locomotive is
coupled to the cars be means of
the Märklin claw coupler.
• This model was designed for ope-
ration on the Märklin-standard-1
Gauge track system. You incur
your own risk operating it on other
track systems.
