General Safety Precautions
Safety of the workplace
Do not operate the sander in explosive atmospheres, e.g. in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or
dust. The sander's motor generates tiny sparks that could ignite dust or fumes.

Electrical Safety

Grounded tools must be plugged into an outlet properly installed and grounded in accordance with all codes
and ordinances. Never remove the grounding prong or modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adaptor
plugs. If you are not sure whether the outlet is properly grounded, the outlet must be checked by a qualified
electrician.
Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such aspipes, radiators, ranges, and refrigerators. There is an
increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
Do not expose the sander to rain or moisture. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
Do not misuse the power cord. Never use the power cord to carry the tool or to pull the plug from the outlet. Keep the
cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Replace damaged power cords without delay. Damaged power
cords increase the risk of electric shock.
When using the sander outdoors, use only special outdoor extension cords. These cords are rated for outdoor use and
reduce the risk of electric shock.
The device possesses a voltage range which can pose an electrical hazard to humans and animals. It should only be ope-
ned and/or disassembled by authorised persons.

Personal Safety

Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection. Suitable safety equipment such as a dust mask, non-skid
safety shoes, a helmet, or hearing protection will reduce the risk of injury.
Avoid accidental starting. Before connecting the device to the mains, make sure the switch is set to "OFF".
Connecting tools whose switch is set to "ON" can lead to accidents.
Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part
of the power tool may result in personal injury.
Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. Proper footing and balance enable better control of the
tool in unexpected situations.
Wear suitable clothing. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing, and gloves away from moving
parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
Careful Handling and Use of the "Spider" Wall and Ceiling Sander
Do not overstrain the tool. Use the correct tool for the particular application.
Do not use the device if the switch is defective. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is
dangerous and must be repaired.
