GENERAL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

WARNING! Read and observe all safety
precautions. Failure to follow all instruc-
tions listed below may result in electric
shock, fire and/or serious personal injury.
The term "sander" as used in the informati-
on presented below refers to the STORCH
"Spider" wall and ceiling sander.
KEEP THESE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS.
Workplace Safety
Do not operate the sander in ex-
plosive atmospheres, e.g. in the
presence of flammable liquids,
gases, or dust. The sander's motor
generates tiny sparks that could
ignite dust or fumes.
Electrical Safety
Grounded tools must be plugged into an outlet that is
properly installed and grounded
in accordance with all laws and
regulations. Never remove the
grounding prong or modify the
plug in any way. Do not use any
adaptor plugs. If you are not sure
whether the outlet is properly
grounded, the outlet must be
checked by a qualified electrician.
Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces such as
pipes, radiators, stoves, and refrigerators. There is
an increased risk of electric shock if your body is
grounded.
Do not expose the sander to rain or moisture. Water
entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric
shock.
Do not misuse the power cord. Never use the power
cord to carry the tool or to pull the plug from the out-
let. Keep the power cord away from heat, oil, sharp
edges, and moving parts. Replace damaged power
cords without delay. Damaged power cords increase
the risk of electric shock.
When using the sander outdoors, use only special out-
door extension cords. These cords are rated for outdoor
use and reduce the risk of electric shock.
Personal Safety
Use safety equipment. Always wear eye
protection. Suitable safety equipment
such as a dust mask, non-skid safety
shoes, a helmet, or hearing protection
will reduce the risk of injury.
Avoid accidental starting. Before connecting the device
to the mains, make sure the switch is set to "OFF".
Connecting tools whose switch is set to "ON" can lead
to accidents.
Remove any adjusting tools or spanners before swit-
ching the power tool on. A tool or spanner that is left
attached to a rotating part can cause personal injury.
Do not overestimate your capabilities. Keep a proper
footing and balance at all times. Proper footing and
balance enable better control of the tool in unexpected
situations.
Wear suitable clothing. Do not wear loose clothing or
jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing, and gloves away
from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery, or long
hair can be caught in moving parts.
Careful Handling and Use of the "Spider" Wall and
Ceiling Sander
Do not overstrain the tool. Use the correct tool for the
particular application.
Do not use the device if the switch is
defective. A power tool that can no longer
be switched on and off is dangerous and
must be repaired.
Disconnect the plug before making any adjustments,
changing accessories, or storing the sander. This
safety measure will prevent the tool from starting
accidentally.
Keep unused sanders out of the reach of children.
Do not allow persons who are not familiar with the
sander or who have not read these instructions to use
it. Power tools are dangerous when used by inexpe-
rienced persons.
