wind direction indication
The rotor/vane-unit has been set so that the meter indicates a wind angle of zero
degrees when the vane is in line with the tube of the rotor/vane-unit. In most
applications the rotor/vane-unit will be mounted on top of the mast pointing
towards the bow. Inwhichcase the meter
will indicate 0 degreesfor wind dead on
the bow and 90 degreesfor a wind on the starboard
beam, etc.
Ifthe rotor/vane-unit is mounted at an
angle
to the fore and aft of the boat
then rotate the knurled portion of the
rotor/vane-barrel until the meter shows
zero when the vane is pointing
dead
ahead.
This setting need only to be
approximate because fine adjustment
can be made at the meter.
Note: Do not rotate the knurled portion
further than 180 degrees from its
original setting.
If you
need to go
further than 180 degrees, reverse the
process by going back through zero.

If the system is used as a land system then zero degrees should correspond to
North. This can be achieved in the same way by rotating the knurled portion until
the meter reads zero when the pointer of the vane is pointing North, fine
adjustment being made at the meter
end.
