Inserting the standard batteries

In order to insert the rechargeable
standard batteries in the handset,
press on the top edge of the battery
compartment cover. Slide the battery
compartment cover downwards.
Insert the standard batteries, paying
attention to correct polarity. Close
the battery compartment cover.
Use the rechargeable standard batteries supplied. When replacing
batteries, only use those of the type AAA 1.2V 600mAh. Other
standard batteries or power packs could cause a short circuit.

Charging the standard batteries

When preparing to use the handset, place it in the base station or charging
station, with its display facing the front, for at least 14 hours. Failure to charge
the standard batteries properly can lead to telephone malfunction.
The rechargeable standard batteries in the handset have a maximum standby
time of 120 hours at room temperature. The maximum talk time is 13 hours.
The current battery charge status is indicated in the display:

When the battery charge status is very low, acoustic warning signals are
issued and the p icon flashes in the display.

Tone or Pulse dialling method

This future-oriented feature enables the telephone to be connected and used
on both analogue (pulse dialling) and digital (tone dialling) connections. The
equipment is set to TONE dialling (DTMF) at the factory. Chapters 9.5 and
10.4 explain how to switch the handset and telephoning handsfree with the
base station to PULSE dialling mode.
