6. Explanation of the functions

The radio signal (DCF) for the exact time in Germany is encrypted and broadcast from a transmitter in
Mainflingen near Frankfurt. The transmitter has a range of approximately 1,500 km; under ideal ambi-
ent conditions even up to 2,000 km. Clocks that are equipped with a radio receiver can receive and
decode the radio signal within this transmission range. Setting the time manually is not necessary with
these clocks (e.g. changing the time from winter to summer time). The change from winter to summer
time or vice-versa is performed within 24 hours, at the latest.
Among other things, the DCF signal includes the precise time (theoretical deviation of 1 second in a
million years!) and the date.
The watch receives
This watch can also receive time signals in other countries. In addition to the German DCF signal, the
watch can also receive the British MSF signal, the US-American WWVB signals and the Japanese JJY
signal.
