Meaning of the radio tower icon and the WAVE OK icon.
A blinking radio tower icon
means that the clock is presently attempting to receive the signal.
• If the radio tower icon is static on the display (not blinking), the device has completed DCF recep-
tion.
• The „waves" above the radio tower icon show the signal strength of the received DCF signal. The
more „waves", the better the signal strength.
• The WAVE OK icon
appears when the last DCF reception was successful. It may be that not
every reception attempt is successful. This can be due to environmental influences, e.g. bad
weather.
DCF reception cannot be performed successfully.
• If the daily automatic DCF reception attempt fails, the radio tower icon appears with only two waves
without the „WAVE OK" icon
• Then the device attempts to receive the DCF signal again each hour after a failed attempt (max. 4
hours).
• If the DCF reception fails right after inserting the battery or after a RESET (reset to factory settings),
it tries to perform a 10-minute reception attempt every 3 hours for 10 minutes as long as the recep-
tion is successful.
Manual triggering of the DCF reception
The DCF reception can be triggered manually by briefly pressing the WAVE/SET button.
Right after this button is pressed, the device performs a reception attempt. The radio tower icon
blinks on the display
.
Setting Functions
Setting the time zone and the language:
• Press and hold down the WAVE/SET button for some seconds; the device goes into setup mode.
The weekday display starts to blink.
• Press the button – to switch between the different display languages for the weekday.
EN = Display of the weekday abbreviation in English
DE = Display of the weekday abbreviation in German
FR = Display of the weekday abbreviation in French
IT = Display of the weekday abbreviation in Italian
• Press the button + if you want to change the time zone. You usually do not have to perform this
setting in Germany, as the time zone coincides with the information of the DCF signal.
0 = the current DCF time is not changed
1 = one hour is added automatically to the current DCF time
-1 = one hour is subtracted automatically to the current DCF time
The time zone setting is required if you are in a country where you can receive the DCF
signal but the time zone deviates from the time zone valid in Germany.
• After setting the time zone and the language, briefly press the button WAVE/SET. The device
switches to the setup function for the calendar.
Setting the calendar:
• The year starts to blink. You only have to set the calendar if the device has no DCF reception; oth-
erwise the device sets the calendar automatically after reception of the DCF signal. You can skip
this setting by pressing the button WAVE/SET twice. Otherwise proceed as follows for setting the
calendar.
• Press the button – or + to change the year.
• Press the button WAVE/SET to confirm the entry of the year; then the month and date display starts
to blink.
• Press the button – or + to set the day. Only the day is set. The month is set automatically forward
when the day exceeds the respective month limit.
During setup, keep the button – or + depressed to speed up the values (quick set). The
weekday is calculated automatically and does not have to be set.
• After setting the calendar, briefly press the button WAVE/SET. The device switches to the setup
function for the time. The time begins to flash.
Setting the time:
• You only need to set the time when the device has no DCF reception. You can skip this setting by
pressing the button WAVE/SET . Otherwise proceed as follows for setting the time.
• Press the button – or + to set the current time.
During setup, keep the button – or + depressed to speed up the values (quick set).
• After setting the time, briefly press the button WAVE/SET. The device switches to the setup func-
tion for the time and temperature format. 12Hr or 24Hr and the temperature display blink.
Setting the 12/24-hr format for the time and setting the temperature format degrees
Celsius (°C) or degrees Fahrenheit (°F):
• Press the button + to alternate between 12 or 24-hr format for the time.
In 12 hour format, the time is only displayed with 12 hours. To differentiate between the
first and the second half of the day, the time is prefixed with „AM" during the first half of
the day and „PM" during the second half.
• Press the button – to switch between the display format °C (degrees Celsius) or °F (degrees
Fahrenheit) for the temperature.
• Press the button WAVE/SET to confirm the entry and leave the setup function.
Mounting the Wall Clock
Carry out a reception test before mounting firmly. If the device has problems receiving the DCF sig-
nal (radio signal for the clock), look for a more suitable location.
During mounting, make sure you do not accidentally damage any power cables,
gas or water pipes. Mortal danger! Use a sufficiently dimensioned screw or a
hook to mount the wall clock on the wall. Use a suitable dowel if required. The
clock must be securely attached, otherwise persons may get hurt when it falls
down.
Do not install the wall clock too close to heat sources like heaters, ovens, etc.
and avoid direct sunlight. This would have an adverse effect on temperature
measuring or damage the device in case of excess temperatures.
Hang the wall clock on a suitable screw or hook on the wall. There is a corresponding suspension at
the back of the clock, which is hung onto the screw head or hook.
Summer time function (DST)
During daylight savings time, the display shows the DST symbol.
Temperature function
The current temperature is displayed on the bottom right of the wall clock. The temperature display
shows „Hi" or „Lo" in case the temperature measuring range is exceeded or undercut.
RESET (reset to factory settings)
In case of electrostatic discharge or after a battery change, it may be possible that the clock mal-
functions (e.g. strange characters on the display). In this case, perform a RESET (reset to factory set-
tings). Press the RESET button with a pointed object, e.g. a toothpick. The display goes off briefly
and then reappears. The device starts the DCF reception. All data that was previously set is lost and
must be reset.
Maintenance, Cleaning and Service Instructions
The wall clock is maintenance-free apart from changing the battery, therefore you should never open
it. If you do open it, the warranty will lapse. The outside of the device should be cleaned with a clean
dry cloth or brush only. Do not use abrasive cleaning agents or chemical solutions which could dam-
age the housing or the display or impair operation.
Disposal
When the product has become unusable, you should dispose of it in accordance with the
current statutory regulations.
Disposal of flat batteries/accumulators
You as the consumer are legally obligated (battery ordinance) to return all spent batte-
ries and accumulators; disposal in the household waste is prohibited.
Batteries/accumulators containing hazardous substances are marked with symbols
indicating that it is prohibited to dispose of these in the regular household waste. The codes
for the heavy metals concerned are: Cd = cadmium, Hg = mercury, Pb = lead. You can
return flat batteries/rechargeable batteries free of charge to the collection points in your
community, our branches or anywhere else where batteries or rechargeable batteries are
sold.
You thus fulfil the legal requirements and make your contribution to the protection of the
environment!
