4. Measurements – General Functions

4.1 Overflow Display

If the measured value exceeds the range limit of the set measur-
ing range, the icon "i" appears on the right side of the display. In
this case, immediately remove the measuring leads from the
device under test or, if possible, select a higher measuring range.

4.2 Undefined Displays

With open measuring inputs or by contact to the measuring
inputs by hand, it can lead to undefined displays. This is not a
malfunction, but a reaction of the sensitive input on existing noise
voltages.
Normally, without high noise levels at the work place and when
having a short circuit on the measuring input, the display
immediately shows 00.0. Respectively when the test object is
connected again, the exact measured value is displayed again.
Due to the system, fluctuations of ±1 digit are within the toler-
ance.
If the resistance range or continuity testing function has been
selected, the overflow marking "I" will appear on the display when
measuring inputs are open.
4.3 Measuring high Voltages
For measurements of voltages higher than 60 V DC or 30 V AC,
never connect the two probes at the same time with the device
under test. First connect the earth measuring cable preferably
using an insulated alligator clip to the earth connection (e.g. the
green yellow protective conductor of a power cord) and then the
red measuring cable also using an insulated alligator clip to the
other measuring point of the device under test). This prevents
accidental short circuits caused by lack of concentration or when
it is hard to approach the device under test. Therefore always first
connect the earth measuring lead and then the live conductor.
