Using
3.2.4 Ground Input / COM Input (22)
Ground reference point for all types of measurements except for capacitance
measurement. This test lead is connected to the ground point of the
measurement object.
3.3 Display / Backlight
The display shows the measured values with 3.5 digits with automatic polarity
indication and decimal point. In addition, unit of measurements and the type of
measurement are displayed.
In darkness the display backlight automatically is turned on. This allows better
reading of the display even in low light conditions.
The backlight automatically is switched off when the ambient light increases to
a certain value.

3.3.1 Overflow Display

If the measured value exceeds the range limit of the set measuring range, a
leading "1" appears to the left of the display. In this case, immediately select a
higher measuring range or remove the measuring leads from the device under
test.

3.4 Automatic Shut-Down (Sleep Mode)

The multimeter automatically shuts down 10 minutes after the last operation of
the device in order to save battery power. When the device has been switched
off automatically, press the POWER switch (15) twice to switch it on again.

4. Measurements

4.1 Undefined Displays

With open measuring inputs or by contact to the measuring inputs with the
hand, it can lead to undefined displays. This is not a malfunction, but a
reaction of the sensitive input on existing noise voltages.
Normally, without high noise levels at the work place and when having a short
circuit on the measuring input, the display immediately shows 00.0. Or when
the test object is connected again, the exact measured value is displayed. Due
to the system, fluctuations of ±1 digit are within the tolerance.
If the resistance range or continuity testing function has been selected, the
overflow marking will appear on the display when measuring inputs are open.
