4.1 AC and DC Voltage Measurement

1. Set the rotary function switch (3) to a corresponding position for
AC/DC voltage measuring (V~ or V ). In the Display the correct
measuring inputs are indicated as filled symbols (20).
2. Connect the red probe to the V/Ω/
the COM input (10) an.
3. Now connect the probes to the circuitry or the component you intend
to measure. When measuring DC voltage, observe correct polarity, if
possible (Red to Plus and Black to Minus).
4. Now the result can be read from the LC display. If a negative result is
measured, a minus symbol is displayed to the left of the result. If
necessary, correct the polarity by changing the probes on the circuit or
on the component.
5. Depending on the position of the rotary function switch AC or DC are
indicated in the display and the measured value is displayed in V or
mV. When switching through the measuring ranges, the decimal point
will shift according to the set measuring range.
Hint
• If the measuring range is exceeded the overload symbol "1" will be
displayed. In this case, set the rotary function switch (3) to a higher
measuring range.
• If the voltage which will be encountered can not be estimated, for safety
reasons in such a case always taking measurement in the 1000 V DC
range or in the 750 V AC range respectively.
• While the unit is idle (no measuring subject connected) with the probes
plugged in, the value in the display may constantly shift. This is caused
by the high sensitivity of the multimeter. When a measuring subject is
connected, the value in the display corresponds exactly to the accuracy
stated in the technical data.
