4. Function check and operation
• After having installed the smoke detector a function check should
be made.
The visual signal (emergency light),
and the acoustic signal are activated together
• Once the smoke (e.g. tobacco smoke for testing) has penetrated
the smoke chambers inside the smoke detector, the alarm is set
off as long as there is smoke in the smoke chambers of the smoke
detector.
An alarm that was set off is signalled via an acoustic and a visual
signal (approximately every second).
• The alarm signals stop after 48 seconds, and when the smoke has left
the smoke chamber completely. In order to identify a detector that set
off the alarm (for example in the case of a false alarm), the red control
LED of the concerned detector flashes for 10 more minutes.
