Specimen Holders
Most automatic
Struers equipment
is designed to work
with specimens
clamped in speci-
men holders. De-
pending on the size
and shape of the
specimens to be
prepared, a large
variety of different
holders are avail-
able.
The program in-
cludes holders for
mounted or un-
mounted, round,
square or irregular,
large or small speci-
mens.
For the manufacturing of your own
special specimen holder designs, Stru-
ers can deliver holders without holes.
All specimen holders are designed us-
ing the same coupling, which makes
them interchangable from one Struers
machine to another.
Accustop
Accustop is a specimen holder with a
wear-resistant ceramic base.
It enables controlled material removal
to a pre-set depth in the specimen
and ensures that the specimen surface
is kept totally plane and not angled.
Accustop can be used for manual
grinding or be inserted in specimen
mover plates.

MD-System
Struers
MD-System
has revolu-
tionized the
way materia-
lographic samples are prepared.
A single magnetic disc, the MD-Disc,
is used to support all the consumables
needed for grinding and polishing.
Grinding and polishing discs are easily
positioned and exchanged due to the
magnetic fi xation, saving time and op-
erating costs.
With the MD-System, sample prepa-
ration can be carried out in only 3-5
steps thanks to the outstanding sur-
face planeness achieved, and the ex-
tensive use of SiC paper can often be
eliminated.
New Grinding Technology
As a complement to the MD-Disc,
Struers has engineered a comprehen-
sive line of metal-backed grinding and
polishing discs.
The patterned segments of the grind-
ing discs minimize build-up of abraded
material, allowing consistently high
material removal and optimal surface
planeness. Disc fl atness is maintained
throughout the life of the discs.
MD-Polishing Cloths suitable for all
polishing and fi nal polishing steps are
available along with adapters and ac-
cessories for storage.
