Initial operation

It is not absolutely necessary to connect the plug-in power unit, since the device also
works without it. However, operation with the plug-in power unit is recommendable
if you want the device's display to be on permanently.
If you want to operate the device with the plug-in power unit, plug the small low-
voltage plug on the cable of the plug-in power unit into the corresponding low-volt-
age jack (6) on the rear of the clock (marked „4.5 VDC"). Then insert the plug-in
power unit into a (230V~/50Hz) mains socket.
Switch between the different functions of the device by pressing MODE .
Time display (standard display)
day) ...
If the device is in a display mode other than the time display, it will automatically
change back to the time display after a short time if no other button is pressed.
Take care not to place the device in direct sunlight and protect it from
vibration, dust, heat, cold, and moisture.
Make sure that the device is set up on a secure and stable surface.
The clock must be set up in a stable position. If it falls down, persons
could be injured or the device or the floor could be damaged. Place
the device on a level and horizontal surface. Do not place the device
on valuable furniture without suitable protection. The plug-in power
unit connecting cable must not be pinched or damaged by sharp
edges.
Make sure that the polarity is correct when inserting the batteries
(pay attention to positive and negative pole!).
Keep batteries out of the reach of children. Do not leave batteries lying
around. Pets or small children might swallow them, which may be
fatal. If swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
Batteries may not be shorted, opened or thrown into fire. Batteries
must not be recharged. There is a risk of explosion!
Only use new batteries of the correct size and the recommended
type. Do not mix old and new batteries. Only use batteries of the same
type and brand.
Chemical liquids may emerge with old or spent batteries and this
may damage the device. For this reason, remove the batteries when
you do not use the device for a longer period (a month or more).
Leaking or damaged batteries can lead to caustic burning of the skin.
Therefore, use suitable protective gloves.
The use of rechargeable batteries is not recommended, as their lower volt-
age and capacity reduces the service life.
