Receipt of the DCF signal
The wall clock has a so-called DCF function, meaning the time
and the date are synchronized automatically when the radio
signal is received (DCF77 signal). This results in a highly accu-
rate time display. The DCF signal is aired by the „Physikalisch
Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB)". The transmitter is located in
Mainflingen near Frankfurt am Main. The DCF signal is aired
continuously and has a range of approx. 1,500 km to 2,000 km
(restricted). If the wall clock is in the DCF receiver range, it can
set the time and date automatically.
For more information about DCF, see the corresponding pages
in the Internet.
Please note the following instructions to ensure the correct receipt of the DCF
radio signal.
The radio signal reception of the device can be impaired by sources of interfer-
ence, such as computers, mobile phones, TV sets, strong motors, etc. Place the
device in a considerable distance (1.5 to 2m) from such sources of interference.
The reception is also impaired by reinforced concrete walls and other materials
that screen radio waves.
Experience has shown that the reception is best close to windows and at night
(less sources of interference).
The reception depends on the position of the device to the DCF transmitter.
Experiment with the installation site if you cannot receive the signal.
Inserting and Replacing the Battery
Observe the correct polarity when inserting the battery (positive and negative).

Keep batteries out of the reach of children. Do not leave batteries lying around.
Pets or small children might swallow them. Mortal danger! If swallowed, con-
sult a doctor immediately.
Batteries may not be shorted, opened or thrown into fire, Batteries must not be
recharged. (Danger of explosion!)
Only use new batteries of the correct size and the recommended type. Chemical
liquids may leak out of overaged or spent batteries and damage the device.
Therefore, remove battery from the device if you do not require it for a longer
period (1 month)
Leaking or damaged batteries may burn the skin if touched. Under these cir-
cumstances, protect your hands with suitable gloves.
Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the wall clock by pressing the small lever on the
battery compartment cover in the direction of the arrow. Remove the cover of the battery compart-
ment.
Insert a new mignon battery (AA) observing the correct polarity. The correct polarity (plus and minus)
is indicated on the battery compartment.
Close the battery compartment by inserting the battery compartment cover and carefully snapping it
into place.
Use high-quality batteries to achieve as long a period of operation as possible. The use of
an accumulator is not recommended because the operating time is strongly reduced by
the low accumulator voltage and capacity.
The display appears after insertion of the batteries.
When the display contrast fades, you need to change the battery.

Initial operation

Prior to first use, remove the transport foil from the display.
DCF reception
• Once the batteries are inserted, the device starts DCF reception automatically.
• The radio tower icon blinks on the display
DCF signal).
Do not press any button during the DCF reception attempt, otherwise the reception will be
interrupted). Try not to move the wall clock during the reception attempt; this would have
a negative influence on the reception.
• The reception is normally concluded within 10 minutes.
• Afterwards, the radio tower icon appears permanently on the display
OK" icon
.
• Daily at midnight, the DCF wall clock performs a DCF reception attempt.
