8. Preparations

The model ship „Flame" is delivered ready for operation. Only a few steps, such as installation of the receiver system,
are required for commissioning.
Before completing the model or taking it into operation, read each section carefully. The construction stages
are almost always illustrated for better understanding.
Please note that the numbers in the text always refer to the components in the adjacent figure.
Models of this category are, however, usually assembled according to the user's own wishes and ideas.
Only carry out the steps described in the different sections if you have completely understood the procedure
and know exactly what to observe.

a) Installation and Connection of the Receiver

• Figure 2 shows the steering servo (1) and the
speed controller (2), as well as a possible
installation site for the receiver (3).
• Connect the speed controller to channel 2 of the
receiver. For this, observe the operating
instructions for the remote control system.
• Attach the receiver to the inside of the board wall
with a strip of double-sided adhesive tape (servo
tape) or a strip of hook-and-loop tape.
We recommend that you keep some distance from
the bottom of the boat body so that any ingressing
water does not flood the receiver.
• Connect the rudder servo to channel 1 of the
receiver. For this, observe the operating
instructions for the remote control system.
Some speed controllers have ferrite cores wrapped in the receiver connection cable for speed controllers.
They serve as interference reduction and must be placed as close as possible to the receiver.
Loose cables should be bundled with a cable tie to prevent them from getting into the linkage or rotating
drive parts.
