Never operate the measuring instrument when it is
open. Danger to life!
Do not leave the used batteries in the measuring
instrument. Even leakage-protected batteries may
corrode. The chemicals which may be set free dam-
age your health and the battery chamber.
Used batteries are to be considered as special
waste and must be disposed of in an environmental-
ly compatible way. Give back your used batteries at
the collecting boxes provided by your specialist
dealer or at the recycling centres.
b) Replacement of the fuse
Ensure to use only fuses of the indicated type and
the indicated nominal current strength as a replace-
ment. The use of mended fuses or the short-circuit-
ing of the fuse holder is inadmissible.
In order to replace the area fuse of the mA current input disconnect the
measuring instrument from the measuring circuit and turn it off. Remove
all the connected cables and test probes. Take a suitable screwdriver
for recessed-head screws and open the housing of the measuring
instrument following the description in the chapter "a) replacement of
the battery". Remove the defective fuse and replace it with a new fuse of
the same type and a nominal current strength of 0,315 A quick-acting,
250 V; usual designation: F0,315A/250V or F315mA/250V.
After replacing the fuse, close the measuring instrument carefully.
Put the measuring instrument only into operation after closing and
fastening the housing safely with screws.
c) Connection of the instrument leads
Make only use of the supplied instrument leads. Always examine the
condition of the connectors and the test probes before each con-
nection and make sure that the insulation is not damaged.

Correcting malfunctions

With the digital multimeter VC 120 you have bought a state of the art
measuring instrument that was constructed in keeping with the
recent technological development. Nevertheless, there may arise
malfunctions. For this reason, the following chapter will give you
information on how to correct some of these malfunctions rather
easily.
Problem
Possible cause
No indication
Has the device been turned-on?
Is the battery OK?
Is the HOLD button still pressed?
Current measurement
Is the fuse for the 200 mA current
is not possible
measurement range defective?
Always observe the safety instructions!
If coverings are opened or parts are removed,
except when this is possible by hand, live parts may
be uncovered. Connecting points may be live, too. If
the device must be opened, it must be disconnected
from all the voltage sources and measuring circuits
before a trimming, maintenance, overhauling or
replacement of parts or subassemblies takes place.
If a trimming, maintenance or repair at the open live
device is unavoidable after that, this work must be
carried out by an expert who is familiar with the haz-
ards involved and the relevant regulations (VDE-
0100, VDE-0701, VDE-0683). Capacitors in the
device may still be loaded, even if the device has
been disconnected from all the voltage source cir-
cuits.
