ASSEMBLY
Measuring capsule cold meter

Important Details
Target audience
These assembly instructions are intended for trained
employees. Therefore, we do not mention the basic work
steps.
Device properties
•
The cold meter is supplied with 2 free temperature
sensors.
•
The cold meter is approved for the temperature range
from 1 °C to 50 °C.
•
The cold meter is calibrated for water as the medium.
The approval is not valid for use in cooling circuits
with a water-glycol mixture!
•
The calculator is detachable.
•
The flow sensor is protected against thawing conden-
sate.
•
The cold meter is prepared for radio use. The radio
transmission can be activated by TAVO (refer to the
TAVO online help or the TAVO manual).
Prerequisites for installation
•
The cold meter must be protected against magnetite
and dirt (e.g. dirt catchers, water preparation, filters).
•
Shut-off devices must be installed in front of the dirt
catcher and behind the cold meter.
•
The connector and the installation kit from Techem
with 2 ball valves and a special ball valve or a special
T-piece must be installed according to the assembly
instructions.
•
Minimum distance from power supply lines 300 mm.
INSTRUCTIONS
Assembling the flow sensor
Assembling the temperature sensors
The temperature sensors are fitted with white flags on
which the installation location is specified.
Install the temperature sensors in the forward and
return flow in accordance with these specifications.
When assembling the two sensors, proceed as follows:

Only install the flow sensor in the train of pipes
for which it is intended – the return flow version
in the return flow with lower thermal load and the
forward flow version in the forward flow.
Information on the installation location is printed
on the nameplate.
The installation position of the flow sensor can be
selected upwards, forwards or downwards. Use the
same installation method within one property!
1 Rinse the pipe thoroughly.
2 Close the shut-off devices in the forward and return
flow.
Unscrew the blind connector cover (ASS) anticlock-

wise.
4 Clean the connector's sealing surfaces and the flow
sensor's O-ring.
5 Apply a thin film of grease to the connector's
sealing surfaces. Use tap grease (e.g. Techem article
no. 160 956).
6 Screw the flow sensor hand-tight into the connector
and tighten by 1/8 to max. 1/4 turn with the Techem
sickle spanner.
1 Unscrew the screwed sealing plug from the special
ball valve or connector.
2 Place an O-ring from the enclosed set on the assem-
bly pin. The second O-ring is a spare part.

3 Screw the O-ring with the assembly pin into the
sealing plug bore hole.
4 Place the O-ring in its final position using the other
end of the assembly pin.
5 Place the temperature sensor with the brass screw
in the bore hole of the sealing plug and tighten it
hand-tight.
