3.4 Conditions of Safe Use (controlled by Eaton drawing 464-1024)
The following conditions apply to the installation, operation and maintenance
of the assessed equipment. Failure to observe these may compromise the
safety integrity of the assessed equipment:
• The user shall comply with the requirements given in the manufacturer's
user documentation in regard to all relevant functional safety aspects
such as application of use, installation out of hazardous areas, operation,
maintenance, proof tests, maximum ratings, environmental conditions,
and repair.
• Selection of this equipment for use in safety functions, configuration,
overall validation, maintenance and repair shall only be carried out by
competent personnel, observing all the manufacturer's conditions and
recommendations in the user documentation.
• All information associated with any field failures of this product should
be collected under a dependability management process
(e.g. IEC 60300-3-2) and reported to the manufacturer.
• The C440/XTOE/ZEB Electronic Overload relay shall only be installed in
non hazardous area where installation to EUC can be implemented.
• The automatic restart using the "A-rest DIP switch" shall not be
configured for automatic reset to avoid spurious trip due to un-cleared
faults, hence, the automatic reset mode will not be allowed and manual
reset is required.
• The Modbus communication shall not be used to implement the safety
function or neither used as an interface with a DCS to implement a
safety function if the safety device self powered or external power
applied.
• The external contactor shall be SIL 1 or better, alternatively the
dangerous failures

(5 x 10 F/yr) if SIL is unknown.
• An emergency push button shall be used if the product failed to respond
to a safety function.
• In collaboration with the manufacturer the user/installer shall ensure that
the construction of the final installation is safe and the selection of the
hazardous area equipment is acceptable, refer to Condition of
Certification clause 17.8 in SIRA 13ATEX9348X.
