Units for parameters
1
m
min
Units of measurement of the selected parameter.
s
Wire feed motor
2
The relevant LED will illuminate when the wire feed
motor is running forwards / backwards.
Control knob
3
All parameters are set by the use of the control
knob.
Digital display
4
The digital display shows the value of the
parameter being set. The unit of measurement
of the parameter is shown on the right side of the digital
display.
Selection of parameters
A parameter can be selected by means of the relative
keypad. A bright indication light indicates the parameter
selected.
Wire feed speed
5
m
Setting of the wire feed speed.
min
Variable 0.20-5m/min.
Storage of parameters - programs
6
This function enables storage of 20 different
programs (often used wire settings) and shift from
one complete program to another for changing values.
By pressing the keypad the display shows a "P" and a
number: "1", "2" etc. Each number includes a program
with all parameters and functions of the CWF. To access
the program the CWF must be disabled to "OFF"-mode.
During normal use, programs for CWF are selected directly
from the control panel in the PI. It is therefore possible to
have several different CWF programs synchronised with
different welding programs of PI.
At the beginning of welding, the PI will inform the
specific CWF unit what will be the program to be used.
(CWF must be set to "ON-mode")

Reset of welding programs
The CWF needs to be disabled to "OFF"-mode. When the
requested program has been selected, the
should be kept pressed until the program number flashes
on and off. The keypad can then be released again. All
parameters of selected program have been set to factory
settings.
Wire inching backwards
7
The function is used for wire inching backwards.
The selected inching speed is the same for all
programs. Variable 0.2-5 m/min.
Wire inching forwards
8
The function is used for wire inching forwards. The
selected inching speed is the same for all programs.
Variable 0.2-5 m/min.
Wire feed proces during TIG welding
9
The keypad should be pressed until the requested
parameter is switched on in the table.
Start delay
10
After arc ignition the start of the wire can be
delayed to permit the creation of a suitable
welding pool. Variable 0-10 sec.
Stop delay
11
At the beginning of slope-down, the welding
machine signals to the CWF to stop the wire to
prevent it from sticking to the workpiece. The time must
be shorter than the slope-down period to prevent sticking
to the workpiece. Variable 0-10 sec. 0 = disabled.
Retract time
12
The time in which the wire is retracted after end
of welding process. Variable 0-5 sec.
Retract speed
The speed of which the wire is retracted after end
of welding process. Variable 0.2-5 m/min.
ON/OFF
13
This key is used to enable/disable the CWF unit.
When the unit is disabled, the display shows "OFF"
and the green LED will be turned off. Some operations,
including access to user menu, can only be carried out
when the unit is disabled. Flashing light will indicate:
- no CWF units have been configured on PI
- possible communications problem
Pulsed wire feeding
14
Is used for wire feeding in pulses.
Pulsations can be synchronised with
pulsation of current on the arc: in this case the LED is
flashing. See below.
The values of speeds are fully independent, permitting
the generation of "reversed" pulses: high speed at low
currents and vice versa.
Main speed pulse time
The time for which the wire runs at main speed.
If the welding machine has been set to slow pulse
mode, the value of the parameter cannot be controlled
and will be the same as the one on the welding machine.
Variable 0.2-10 sec.
