Protecting the motor

Note:
In Fans equipped with an EC motor, there is no additional motor protection needed. The motor protection is
integrated in the electronics of the motor.
7.5

Protective earth wire

• For determining the cross-section, note the sizing criteria according to EN 61800-5-1. The protective earth must
have a cross-section equal to or greater than that of the phase conductor. Ensure that the minimum cable cross-sec-
tion is at least AWG 26 / 0.13 mm².
• Compliance with the impedance specifications according to EN 60335 for the protective earth connection circuit
must be verified in the end application. Depending on the circumstances of installation, it may be necessary to con-
nect an additional protective earth conductor to the device.

Residual current circuit breaker

♦ Only use universal RCDs (type B or B+).

Commissioning

8.1

Safety information / Preconditions

♦ Commissioning may only be carried out by adequately qualified persons, details see Table 1 Qualifications, page 6.
♦ For all work in the vicinity of the fan, wear protection equipment, details see 2.3 Personal protective equipment,
page 6
♦ Installation and electrical connection have been correctly performed.
♦ Residual material from installation and foreign objects have been removed from the fan and ducts.
♦ Inlet and outlet are free.
♦ The safety devices have been fitted.
♦ The earth wire is connected.
♦ The cable glands are tight.
♦ The nominal current (from the name plate) is not exceeded.
♦ The data on the name plate corresponds with the connection data.
♦ The supply voltage corresponds with the device voltage
8.2

Tests before activation

♦ Check that safety elements and protective grilles are securely fastened.
8.3

Tests when activated

Warning
Before switching the device on, check the device for externally visible damage and ensure that the
protective equipment functions properly.
Important
When the mains are switched on, the motor starts an initialization (a few seconds). After the initialization
the controll input is activ.
1. Switch the ventilator on via control input.
2. Checks:
♦ Check the direction of rotation/conveyance. the direction of rotation always applies looking at the rotor
