General Safety Precautions

The generally applicable accident prevention guidelines
apply to the use of the STORCH Hot Box 240. As a rule,
please observe the "Guidelines for liquid jets" published
by the German Federation of Statutory Accident Insuran-
ce Institutions for the Industrial Sector - specialist com-
mittee for chemistry. The brochure entitled "Guidelines
for liquid jets" is available from the Statutory Accident
Insurance Institutions responsible for your company or
directly from Carl-Heymanns-Verlag KG, Luxemburger
Str. 449, D-51149 Cologne, order number: ZH 1/406.
The guidelines for liquid jets specify regular inspections
of the high-pressure cleaning devices by a specialist
at minimum every twelve months. The results of said
inspections must be documented.
Device owners must specify instructions for safe opera-
tion of the device and monitor their implementation. For
this reason, users must be familiar with the guidelines for
liquid jets.
Operators must observe the regulations specified by the
responsible, local water supply companies in the event
that the device is connected to the public water grid.
Use water from the public drinking water supply only.
Do not use water from wells or recycled water.
Do not use fully softened water.
Do not use de-materialised water.
Do not use water from lakes or rivers.
Do not use excessively soft water below 10°dH
Do not use salt water
Do not use aggressive chemicals that do not have a neu-
tral pH value.
The use of the aforementioned liquids may cause dama-
ge to water bearing components, such as the pump, pres-
sure-regulating valve and heating coil.
240. If you require any additional information, please
contact your responsible sales representative or STORCH
directly.
Periodic maintenance work is required to safeguard smoo-
th and faultless functions.
The warranty is rendered void in the event of using water
other than drinking water. Please also observe that parti-
cularly soft water may also damage water bearing compo-
nents.
Please observe the regulations of your responsible ener-
gy supplier in the event of connecting the device to the
power supply.
The Hot Box 240 heating unit is a firing system that
must be inspected for adherence to the limit values once
a year by the responsible district chimney sweep, as per
the first regulation of the German Federal Legislation
on the Protection from Emissions. The operator of the
high-pressure system must commission said inspections.
A safe extraction of the smoke and a sufficient fresh air
supply must be ensured if Hot Box 240 is operated in
closed rooms. It is not permitted to route the smoke to
any available chimneys.
Exclusively STORCH personnel or persons authorised by
the manufacturer may repair the Hot Box 240.
Use genuine manufacturer parts only. Please obtain these
from STORCH.
Use DN 8 ST1 type high-pressure hoses only, operating
pressure 210 bar. Please pay close attention to high-pres-
sure hoses. Each high-pressure hose must comply with
the applicable safety regulations and labelled accor-
dingly (permissible operating pressure, date of manu-
facture, manufacturer). Replace any damaged or worn
high-pressure hoses. It is not permitted to repair or patch
high-pressure hoses.
The device possesses a voltage range which can pose an
electrical hazard to humans and animals. It should only be
unscrewed and/or disassembled by authorised personnel.
Similarly, maintenance and repair work should only be con-
ducted by electrical specialists and authorised service cen-
tres. The buyer/user operates the device at their own risk
and at their own responsibility.
