General Safety Instructions
Read the operating instructions carefully before
putting the appliance into operation and keep the
instructions including the warranty, the receipt and, if
possible, the box with the internal packing.
The appliance is designed exclusively for private use
and for the envisaged purpose. This appliance is not
fi t for commercial use. Do not use it outdoors (except
if it is designed to be used outdoors). Keep it away
from sources of heat, direct sunlight, humidity (never
dip it into any liquid) and sharp edges. Do not use the
appliance with wet hands. If the appliance is humid or
wet, unplug it immediately. Do not put it in water.
When cleaning or putting it away, switch off the ap-
pliance and always pull out the plug from the socket
(pull on the plug, not the cable) if the appliance is not
being used and remove the attached accessories.
Do not operate the machine without supervision. If
you should leave the workplace, always switch the
machine off or remove the plug from the socket (pull
the plug itself, not the lead).
To protect children from the dangers posed by
electrical appliances, make sure that the cable is
hanging low and that children do not have access to
the appliance.
Check the appliance and the cable for damage on a
regular basis. Do not use the appliance if it is dama-
ged.
Do not try to repair the appliance on your own. Always
contact an authorized technician. To avoid the expos-
ure to danger, always have a faulty cable be replaced
only by the manufacturer, by our customer service or
by a qualifi ed person and with a cable of the same
type.
Use only original spare parts.
Pay careful attention to the following "Special Safety
Instructions".
Special Safety Instructions
The metallic parts become extremely hot. Touch only
the handle. Danger of Burns!
Place the machine on a heat-resistant, smooth, fl at
and non-slip surface.
In order to avoid overheating, do not place the machi-
ne inside or under a cabinet. Make sure that enough
space is left around the machine.
Never use the machine without water in it.
Only fi ll the water tank (2) with cold water.
In order to ensure that there is no residual steam
pressure from the previous time coffee was made,
leave the machine to cool down for a few minutes and
then turn the fi lter holder (11) slowly in the direction of
„ ".
Ensure that during operation the fi lter holder (11) is
correctly closed and secured, as the machine works
under pressure.
Only fi ll the tank with water. Do not use any other
liquids!
The machine must not be used outside.
During operation the mains lead must not be wound
round the machine. The mains lead must not come
into contact with hot surfaces.
Do not move the machine when it is in operation.
Do not place the device immediately next to a gas or
electric cooker or any other source of heat.

The machine, mains lead and mains plug must never
be touched with wet/damp hands, as there is a dan-
ger of an electric shock.
Caution! Do not allow any moisture to penetrate
the housing. Otherwise there is a danger of an
electric shock.
Danger of Burns: Never point the steam jet at
yourself or others. Please place a vessel under the
steam nozzle (10).
The water tank (2) should only be fi lled with cold
drinking water. By no means must water contai-
ning carbon dioxide be used (sparkling water).

Before Start-up
Unpack the espresso machine carefully. Take out all the
accessories and the packing material. Wash the accesso-
ries in a sink. To clean the device, carry out 2-3 complete
cycles with clean water before brewing the fi rst espresso.
As described under "Preparing Espresso", but without
espresso powder.
Making a Espresso
1. Connect the machine to a correctly installed 230 V,
50 Hertz safety socket.
2. Ensure that the function selection switch (5) is turned
to the O position.
3. Place the drip grid (6) on the recess of the drip tray
(7).
4. Open the lid (1) and pull the water tank (2) out by the
handle if necessary.
5. Fill the required amount of fresh clear water into the
tank. The water level must be between the MIN.- and
MAX. mark. Reinsert the water tank if necessary.
6. Release the fi lter holder (11) by pressing the pressure
compensation lever (16) and turning it to the left ( ) at
the same time.
7. Insert the second sealing ring (17) into the fi lter holder
with the bulge facing upwards. When you would like
to prepare a cup of coffee, always place the adapter
(15) in the fi lter holder, taking note of the indentati-
ons in the fi lter holder, and then the small fi lter (14).
