5. Functional Description

The sensors transmit the data for tyre pressure and tyre temperature to the display unit, where they are displayed
during the drive.
An additional sensor for the reserve wheel is optionally available, so that the tyre data of the reserve wheel can be
monitored as well.
The thresholds for minimum and maximum pressure, as well as the maximum tyre temperature, can be set at the display
unit. If the thresholds are exceeded or undercut at a tyre, an acoustic and visual warning signal is issued.
The display unit contains a rechargeable battery that permits temporary operation without direct power supply via the
cigarette lighter as well.
The display switches on automatically once a movement of the vehicle is detected. The display backlighting switches
on automatically in the dark.
The sensors have a safety screw connection and are water-tight. They are installed simply instead of the valve
protection caps.
In regular condition, the tyre data are sent to the display unit every 5 minutes. If a sudden air pressure loss is recognised,
the corresponding sensor sends a warning signal at once.
The operation mode described above protects the system from useless fuel supply and dangers from incorrect air
pressure. This also avoids increased wear of the tyres.
