Brief description
Hydraulic load lifters are specially designed rescue appliances for lifting moving loads. They are
used to rescue trapped or enclosed accident victims. Driven by a hydraulic power unit (see 5.5
Hydraulic supply), they can be used to lift loads.
When using a hydraulic power unit, the operating instructions of the power unit must be
observed! Remove the dust caps from the coupling parts and establish the connection between
the hydraulic hoses and the load lifter as described in Chapter 5.7.
Then re-insert the protective caps to prevent contamination.
Pressing the pushbutton on the control handle more or less firmly adjusts the movement speed
of the lifter. The maximum pushing force is only obtained by pressing the pushbutton down
fully.
5.3
Operating conditions
The permissible temperature range of the load lifter is between -20° C and + 55° C. Reliable
function cannot be guaranteed outside of this range.
Underwater use
The load lifter can also be used under water. A depth of 40 metres should not be exceeded.
At this depth, the water pressure does not yet have any influence on the hydraulic pressure in
the equipment and the hose lines. Subsequently dry the appliances and preserve burnished
metal parts.
NOTE!
After underwater use in salt water, the device must be completely taken apart
and cleaned. Completely cleaning the device is sufficient after use in fresh water.
5.4
Type plate
The type plate can be found on the foot of the load lifter. It provides the serial number,
production date, nominal pressure, appliance designation and EN standard.

Power units and pumps
Only WEBER-HYDRAULIK power units and hand pumps are approved for use to drive the load
lifter. Other manufacturers can only be used under certain circumstances. Therefore, get in
touch with us and ask us before operating an appliance with an external power unit!
ATTENTION!
Before using pumps and units from other manufacturers, it is essential that
you contact WEBER-HYDRAULIK or an authorised dealer.
Incorrect use can cause hazardous situations, for which we take no liability!
Hose lines
High pressure hose lines are used to connect the appliance to the power unit. 5 m, 10 m and
20 m hoses are available. As the hose length increases, so too does the loss of pressure. This
loss of pressure is still acceptable with a hose length of 50 metres and does not have any
noteworthy effects.
WARNING!
With regard to hose lines, the safety instructions listed in Chapter 2.5 must be
observed in particular.

Hydraulic oil / operating medium
The load lifter SBH 15-255 and the control unit MSE 15-255 are designed and tested for the
WEBER hydraulic oil part no. 1057565F. This oil has a particularly high degree of purity and also
works without problems in temperatures as low as -20° C. For more information and alternative
hydraulic oils, see Chapter 8.
