If possible, the gear should be tested without load. If it runs quietly with no abnormal noise, the
gear can be attached to the machine.
After approx. 3 hours, measure the surface temperature. Check maximum permissible differen-

tial to ambient temperature. In case of higher temperature than maximum indicated for the spe-
cific model, stop the unit immediately and consult Sumitomo Drive Technologies.
In case of any damages the unit must be put off service immediately and should not be
put into duty before properly fixed.
Any modifications or alterations of any kind to the unit or the use of not original
Sumitomo Drive Technologies' parts will void the warranty and all subsequent claims.
The nameplate should not be removed.
3 . Transportation recommendations and inspection upon delivery
Do not stand directly under a unit sespended by a crane or other lifting mechanism, inhure may
result.
Unpack the unit after verifying that it is positioned right side up; otherwiese, injury way result.
Do not to drop the gearmotor or reducer. Use the hanging bolt or hole provided. After mount-
ing a Paramax drive or reducer unit to equipment, do not hoist the entire machine using the
hanging bolt or hole; possible personal injury or damage to the equipment and/or lifting device
may result.
Lifting harnesses of suitable and adequate size are to be used; these are to be hooked into the
eye bolts or laid round the flange connections. Eye bolts on the gearbox are dimensioned for
the weight of the unit, no additional loads are allowed.
Caution: do not use the central bores in the shaft ends for lifting the drive with hooked bolts,
etc. This could result in damage to the bearings.
Before hoisting, refer to the nameplate, crate, outline drawing, catalog, etc for the weight of
PARAMAX DRIVE
or reducer. Never hoist a unit that exceeds the rating of the crane or other mechanism for lift-
ing; personal
injury or damage to the equipment and/or lifting device may occur.
Upon delivery of the PARAMAX DRIVE check the following::
1. If the descriptions on the rating plate conform to your order..
If there is any doubt that the unit delivered does not conform to the one ordered, contact
the nearest agent, distributor, or service office.
2. The units must be checked for any transportation damage immediately upon receipt. Any
damages should be reported to the carrier without delay. If there is any evidence of dama-
ge which may put at risk the function of the PARAMAX DRIVE, do not install the unit.
