6.2 Calibrate with the sensor in the process

Calibrate the sensor while the sensor is in the process. A second sensor attached to a hand-held
meter is necessary.
1. Put the second sensor into the process as near as possible to the first sensor.
2. Wait for the DO value to stabilize on the hand-held meter.
3. Go to the calibration menu:
• SC4500 Controller—Select the tile of the device, then select Device menu > Calibration.
• SC200 and SC1000 Controllers—Go to the main menu, then select SENSOR SETUP > [select
instrument] > CALIBRATE.
4. Select Calibration (or SAMPLE CAL).
5. Select the option for the output signal during calibration:
Option Description
Active The instrument sends the current measured output value during the calibration procedure.
(or ACTIVE)
Hold The sensor output value is held at the current measured value during the calibration
(or HOLD) procedure.
Transfer A preset output value is sent during calibration. Refer to the controller user manual to
(or TRANSFER) change the preset value.
6. With the sensor in the sample, push OK (or enter).
7. When the reading is stable, push OK (or enter).
8. Enter the measurement from the second sensor.
9. Push OK (or enter).
10. Review the calibration result:
• "Task was succesfully completed." (or "COMPLETE")—The sensor is calibrated and ready
to measure samples. The offset value is shown.
• "The calibration failed." (or "CAL FAIL")—The calibration slope or offset is outside of
accepted limits. Repeat the calibration. Clean the sensor if necessary. Refer to
sensor on page 16.
11. Push OK (or enter).
The output signal returns to the active state and the measured sample value is shown on the
measure screen.
