1 Introduction
Goldanalytix, a trademark of MARAWE GmbH & Co. KG and founded in 2012, is one of the
leading providers of precious metal testing methods in Germany. With the GoldScreenPen, we
offer a testing device for measuring the electrical conductivity using inductive eddy current
measurement. The measuring device enables the reliable testing of coins and small bars made of
gold, silver and other precious metals. The measuring tip is equipped with one of the world's
smallest sensor coils, allowing the conductivity value to be measured precisely even with small
contact surfaces, making it possible to measure for example 1/10 ounce coins or 1 g bars. The
penetration depth varies depending on the conductivity of the measured material and ranges up
to 0.7 mm. In this way, even larger objects, such as 10 g bars or 1 ounce coins, can be verified for
authenticity. In general, the testing device is suitable for measuring most metals and alloys and is
therefore ideal for use in the recycling sector. With certain restrictions, the GoldScreenPen can
also be an excellent tool for testing jewellery (see Chapter 6: Evaluation and Interpretation of
the Results).
