18.1
Removing and Attaching the
Blade
18.1.1
Removing the cutting blade
► Switch off the lawn mower and remove the
batteries.
► Stand the lawn mower upright.
► Chock the blade (1) with a piece of wood (2).
► Unscrew the screw (3) in the direction of the
arrow and remove together with the
washer (4).
► Remove the blades (1).
► Dispose of the screw (3) and the washer (4).
Use a new screw and washer for installing the
cutting blade (1).

Installing the cutting blade
► Switch off the lawn mower and remove the
batteries.
► Stand the lawn mower upright.
► Place the new washer (1) with its convex side
up on the new screw (2).

► Apply Loctite 243 threadlocking to the thread
of the screw (2).
► Position the cutting blade (3) so that the raised
areas on the contact area (4) engage in the
notches (5).
► Screw in the screw (2) together with the
washer (1).
► Chock the blade (1) with a piece of wood (2).
► Tighten down the screw (3) with a torque of
65 Nm.
18.2
Sharpening and Balancing the
Blade
Sharpening and balancing the blade correctly
requires a lot of practice.
STIHL recommends having the blade sharpened
and balanced by a STIHL specialist dealer.

WARNING
■ The cutting edges of the blade are sharp. This
may result in the user cutting themselves.
► Wear protective gloves.
► Switch off the lawnmower and remove the bat‐
teries.
► Upend the lawn mower.
► Remove the blade.
► Sharpen the blade. Observe the sharpening
angle and cool the blade,
Bluing of the blade during sharpening is not
permitted.
► Attach the blade.
► If anything is unclear: consult a STIHL special‐
ist dealer.
