Description of the Device
The AIM System (CI-6126) consists of a tablet and integrated hardware module.
The AIM System is composed of three parts built into the tablet: (a) The
Electrocochleography (ECochG) Module combining two components, the CPI-3
module and an audio amplifier. (b) Power is supplied by either Mains Power (AIM
Power Adapter (CI-6132), AIM Power Cord, EU (CI-6131); AIM Power Cord, UK
(CI-6128); AIM Power Cord, US (CI-6127)) or 2 Lithium-ion rechargeable batteries
(AIM Rechargeable Battery (CI-6130)) and (c) Software to run the Tablet (CI-6056-
001). It is used with AIM Programming Cable (CI-6125), AIM Insert Earphone
(CI-6129), AIM Sterile Inserts (CI-6120) , AIM Sound Tubes (CI-6121), AIM ECochG
license 5 uses (CI-6133), and AIM ECochG license 10 uses (CI-6134). The AIM
Software consists of several software tools for collecting data and providing
information to the user. It provides the ability to do Objective Measurements such
as ECochG, EFI, NRI, and ESRT. It is compatible with Naida CI Q90 (CI-5280-150),
Headpieces (CI-5315, CI-5316, and CI-5318), Headpiece RF Cable (CI-5415-206)
and CI implants (CI-1400-02H, CI-1400-01, CI-1500-02H, CI-1500-01,CI-1500-04,
CI-1600-04, CI-1600-05, CI-1601-04, CI-1601-05). When assembled, the system
can be used to make electrophysiological measurements intraoperatively and post-
operatively in a clinical setting.

The AIM system will command the cochlear implant to output the desired stimulus
level. The charge output is limited by the load impedance on the electrode and the
internal voltage of the implant. The implant may not be able to generate the desired
stimulus level if load impedance is excessive. The system is able to generate the
maximum amplitude when the load impedance is a maximum of 1 kΩ.
The Naída CI Q90 sound processor, UHP or UHP 3D headpiece, programming
cable and ear dome are considered applied parts.
