4 Function and device
overview
The Homematic IP Window and Door
Contact – optical reliably detects open
windows and doors by means of an
integrated infrared sensor.
Open windows and doors are imme-
diately displayed in the Homematic IP
app – so you can keep a close eye on
your windows and doors even while
out and about.
Thanks to the two different caps, the
colour of the device adapts to the door
and window frames. Furthermore,
installation of the window and door
contact is easy thanks to the supplied
adhesive strips or screws.
Thanks to the integrated tamper con-
tact, you are immediately informed
by means of the app of any tampering
with the window and door contact.
Strong extraneous light and con-
tamination of the sensor can lead
to functional limitations.

5 General system information
This device is part of the Homematic IP
Smart Home system and commu-
nicates via the Homematic IP wire-
less protocol. All devices in the
Homematic IP system can be con-
figured easily and individually with a
smartphone using the Homematic IP
app. Alternatively, you have the option
of operating Homematic IP devices via
the CCU3 or in conjunction with many
partner solutions. The available func-
tions provided by the system in com-
bination with other components are
described in the Homematic IP User
Guide. All current technical documents
