Contraindications (When the Vercise Genus DBS System Should Not Be Used)
The Vercise Genus DBS System is not recommended for patients that have the following conditions or who will be exposed to
the following procedures:
Diathermy: You should not have any form of diathermy either as treatment for a medical condition or as part of a

surgical procedure. The energy generated by diathermy can be transferred to the Vercise Genus DBS System, causing
tissue damage in the brain, which can result in severe injury or death. The use of shortwave, microwave, and/or
therapeutic ultrasound diathermy with the implanted Vercise Genus DBS System may result in severe injury or death.

Patient Incapability: If you are unable to properly operate the Remote Control and Charging System (as applicable),
then you should not be implanted with the Vercise Genus DBS System.

Poor Surgical Candidates: The Vercise Genus DBS System is not recommended for patients who are poor surgical
candidates.
