• The DCF signal is a signal that is sent by a transmitter in Mainflingen
(near Frankfurt on the Main). Its range is up to 1500 km, and under per-
fect reception conditions even up to 2000 km.
Among others, the DCF signal contains the precise time and date.
Of course, the tedious switching between summer and winter time manu-
ally can also be dispensed with.
• The DCF receiver integrated in the housing of the temperature/humidity
sensor requires about 5 minutes at good reception until it has completely
recognised and assessed the data in the DCF signal.
• If the DCF receiver in the temperature/humidity sensor has properly read
the DCF signal, the time and date are transmitted to the basis station.
The lower right of the display of the basis station shows a radio tower
symbol "
".
The LED (23) in the temperature/humidity sensor lights up for approx. 20 seconds to display proper reception of
the DCF signal.
The DCF receiver in the temperature/humidity sensor will perform a reception attempt several times per
day. A single successful reception attempt per day will be enough to keep the deviation of the clock inte-
grated into the basis station at less than one second.
• If the current date/time (or measured data) is still not displayed on the basis station after about 10 minutes, change
the site of setup of the basis station and the outdoor sensor.
Take the batteries out of the basis station, remove the special rechargeable batteries from the temperature-/humid-
ity sensor. Wait for a few seconds.
Then insert the batteries into the basis station first, and then the special rechargeable batteries into the tempera-
ture/humidity sensor.
Check if the LED (23) lights up for about 3 - 4 seconds after inserting the special rechargeable batteries into the
temperature/humidity sensor. If this is not the case, check polarity. It is also possible that the rechargeable batteries
are flat. In this case, you need to charge them in full sunlight in the outdoor sensor for at least one day.
If only the measured data are displayed (e.g. outdoor temperature, outdoor humidity, etc.), but neither the
current time nor the date, either repeat the above steps or wait a few hours until the next DCF reception
attempt.
Alternatively, the time and date can be set manually at the basis station, e.g. when the weather station is
operated in a location where DCF reception is not possible (e.g. at the edge of the DCF reception area).
• The basis station can be put up on a level, stable surface with the foot integrated firmly into the housing. Protect
valuable furniture surfaces from scratches with suitable pads. Two openings on the rear can be used to suspend
the basis station from two hooks, screws or nails in the wall as well.
Select a location as operating site for the basis station that is not in the sun or next to a radiator. This will
falsify the temperature or humidity display.
• The entire radio-controlled weather station is now ready for operation.
