Mod. 0987L Rapida
10. TROUBLESHOOTING
Problem
No vapour delivery
Filter holder is leaking
Difficulty in positioning
the filter holder on the assembly ring
The flow of coffee is
poor
The flow of coffee is
excessive
The coffee delivered is
not hot enough
The coffee delivered is
lukewarm
The coffee delivered is
too hot
Diagnostics / Solution
The nozzle on the steam spout is blocked;
unblock it with the help of a pin. This
problem is caused by inserting the nozzle in
milk.
Possible causes:
1 - The sump gasket is warn or encrusted.
2 - The filter holder is poorly positioned on
the group.
3 - The filter in the filter holder is damaged.
The filter holder will not stay on
The coffee is delivered in drips, the delivery
time is overlong and the quality of the
coffee is poor, with a cloudy cream.
Possible causes:
1 - The degree of the coffee grind is too
fine.
2 - The coffee loaded in the filter holder
has been overly-compacted.
3 - The dose loaded into the filter holder is
excessive.
4 - The group nozzle is clogged.
5 - The filter in the filter holder is clogged.
The coffee is delivered too quickly and the
resulting cream is lighter in colour than
normal.
Possible causes:
1 - The degree of the grind is not fine
enough.
2 - The coffee loaded in the filter holder
has not been pressed down sufficiently.
3 - The dose loaded into the filter holder is
inadequate.
Possible causes:
1 - The cups are cold.
2 - The filter holder or the group is cold.
3 - The degree of the coffee grind is too
fine.
4 - The hydraulic circuit in the machine has
deposits (calcified).
5 - The pressure in the boiler is below 0.8
bar
The coffee delivered is lukewarm even if
the detected pressure is normal, between
1 to 1.2 bar. In this case the detected
pressure is incorrect.
Possible causes:
1 - The pressure in the boiler is greater
than 1.3 bar
2 - The machine is covered by something
which is impeding cooling.
3 - The machine was installed in a position
Recommendations
Clean the steam nozzle after each use.
In each of these cases, call a specialised
technician.
The problem is due to the excessive dose
of coffee in the filter.
In cases 1-2-3, the problem may be
resolved by correctly adjusting the
degree of the coffee grind to be dosed.
Case 4 requires the intervention of a
technician.
In case 5, clean or replace the filter.
In cases 1-2-3, adjust the degree of the
coffee grind.
In case 1, use heated cups.
In case 2, keep the group filter holder
mounted or pull the group lever to
release hot water.
In case 3, adjust the degree of the coffee
grind.
In cases 4-5, call a specialised technician.
Call a specialised technician to inspect
the breather valve. In the meantime, to
allow the machine to be used, open the
steam tap causing the pressure in the
boiler to fall to zero, which will result in
the resistor triggering and increase the
temperature. Perform this operation
daily when switching the machine ON.
In case 1, call a specialised technician.
In cases 2-3, re-establish the proper
conditions for cooling the machine.
