Critical states during the operation of radial piston pumps can be avoided by applying a
monitoring device. Recommendations therefor:
Monitoring the operation of the higher-level machine, e.g. monitoring of the movement of
relevant actuators.
Pressure monitoring of the pressure line of the pump during pressure compensation
mode.
Flow monitoring of flow compensated pumps and pumps with fixed displacement.
Monitoring the surface temperature of the pumps.
The mounting position of the pump has to be underneath the fluid level of the reservoir of the
hydraulic power unit. In other cases the operator has to ensure by using appropriate safety
measures, before and during operation that the radial piston pump is always filled up with
hydraulic fluid and only intakes hydraulic fluid.
The defined safety measures must also take into consideration all foreseeable error conditions,
i.e. it is impossible under any fault conditions that the Radial Piston Pump runs dry.
The end of the drain line of the pump and the recirculation of leakage of the safety valve must be
placed in the reservoir underneath the fluid level. This has to be ensured by monitoring the fluid
level.
The drive shaft of the radial piston pump has to be protected by an appropriate cover with a
sufficient resistance against mechanical stress through falling objects and suchlike.
All conductible parts of the radial piston pump have to be grounded with a bleeder resistance lower

X compared to the earth. For this the grounding terminal is to use.
