Test messages
In some cases, the tester will ask for additional information before
performing a test. In addition, a message may indicate a condition that
prevents the test from running properly.
Test message

TUR ABOVE or

LOADING?
The regulator controls the output voltage as a
function of battery voltage, engine compartment
temperature and switched-on power consumers. It
therefore adapts the maximum voltage to be
supplied by the generator at a given time to the
respective current requirement of the on-board
electrics and the current that the generator can
produce at the respective speed of the alternator
rotor. The standard upper voltage limit of a typical
vehicle regulator is 15.0 V +/-0.5 V. The limit value
may differ depending on the vehicle type.
Observe the manufacturer's specifications.
If the charging current is high, the battery will be
overcharged, so that the service life is shortened
and functional failures are possible. If after the
battery test the message BATT. REPLACE after
the battery test and CHARGE VOLTAGE TOO
HIGH after the charging system test, check the
battery acid level. A sign that the battery is
overcharged is the leakage of fluid through the
ventilation caps. This will result in a low acid level
and damage to the battery.
If the tester detects that the temperature of the
battery may affect the result, you will be prompted
to select whether the battery temperature is
above or below 0 ˚C. After your input, the test will
continue.
To obtain a meaningful result, the tester asks
whether the battery is being tested before or after
charging. If the vehicle has just been driven,
select BEFORE CHARGING. After the selection,
the test continues.
