@ POWER switch
When
this switch
is pressed,
power
is turned on. The
DIRECTION and the cassette half indicator will light. Press
the switch again to turn the power off.
@ MODE switch
This selects the tape transport mode during playback or
recording.

(m): Auto repeat
This function allows both sides A and B to be repeatedly
played back four times each (8 times together). Side A is
played back first, this is followed by side B and then side A
is played back again, etc. When the tape comes to the end,
the auto-stop mechanism is activated and the tape is stop-
ped automatically.

When
the PAUSE
(WE ) switch is pressed during
playback to set the unit to the pause mode and then the
same switch is pressed again to resume playback, sides
A and B of a tape can be played back four times each (8
times together) anew.

Inthe case of recording, even if the switch is in the

position, the tape will stop after one full cycle
(side A > side B > stops).

When
the tape is wound
up onto one of the reels, the
autostop
mechanism
is activated
and
the
tape
is
automatically stopped. Set the switch to this position for
playing back (recording) one side of a tape.

NOTE:
In order to keep the interruption of sound to a minimum
during auto reverse
recording
or playback,
this unit
features
a
leader
tape
sensing
mechanism.
This
mechanism senses the leader tape (the clear portion at
the beginning of the tape), and performs auto reverse.
However,
care should be exercised since malfunction
may
occur
in
the
following
cases.
These
are
not,
however, malfunctions of the tape deck.
e When a strong beam of light has been shone near the
heads.
e When any characters or marks have been printed on the
leader tape.
e When badly damaged tape is used.

MS/SKIP switch
When
this switch is pressed, the MS/SKIP
indicator will
light. This tape deck has both the music search function,
for locating the unrecorded blank between programs, and
the skipping function,
for passing over long unrecorded
portion quickly (See page 8).
To release the Music
Search/Skip
functions,
press this
switch once again.
© TIMER switch
This
switch
is used
when
an
optional
audio
timer
is
employed for unattended
recording or wake-up playback
operations. Keep this switch at the OFF position when the
timer is not being used.
REC: For unattended recording.
OFF: When not using the audio timer.
PLAY: For wake-up program.
