8.2 Filling and venting

Only a completely filled pump without air inclusions
can draw in fluid optimally. Perform filling and vent-
ing as follows:
a) Pump with inlet pressure (Fig. 3b)
• Close stop valve on the pressure side (Fig. 3b,
item 12)
• Loosen the screw plug for filling/venting (Fig. 1
or 2, item 2).
• Slightly open stop valve on the inlet side (Fig. 3b,
item 11), until water emerges from the filler open-
ing and the pump is completely vented.
WARNING!
There is a risk of scalding! Depending on the
temperature of the fluid and system pressure,
hot liquid or gaseous fluid may escape or shoot
out at high pressure when the vent plug is
opened completely.
• Screw the screw plug back in tightly when the
water emerges free from bubbles.
• Open the stop valve on the pressure side
(Fig. 3b, item 12).
• Continue commissioning with the pressure
switch setting.
b) Self-priming pump in suction mode (Fig. 3c)
(maximum suction head 8 m)
• Open shut-off device on the pressure side
(Fig. 3c, item 12).
• Open shut-off device on the suction side
(Fig. 3c, item 11).
• Remove the screw plug for filling/venting (Fig. 1
or 2, item 2).
• Using a funnel, slowly and completely fill the
pump at the filler opening, until water emerges
from the opening (Fig. 3c).
• Screw the screw plug back in tightly when the
water emerges free from bubbles.
• Continue commissioning with the pressure
switch setting.
WARNING!
The entire system can get very hot, depending
on the operating status of the domestic water
system (temperature of the fluid) Risk of burns
on contact!
NOTE:
The pump is not allowed to be operated for more
than 10 minutes with volume flow Q = 0 m
(closed stop valve).

c) Self-priming pump in suction mode (Fig. 3c)
(maximum suction head 7 m)
• Open shut-off device on the pressure side
(Fig. 3c, item 12).
• Open shut-off device on the suction side
(Fig. 3c, item 11).
• Remove the screw plug for filling/venting (Fig. 1
and 2, item 2).
• Using a funnel, slowly and completely fill the
pump at the filler opening, until water emerges
from the opening.
• Screw the screw plug back in tightly when the
water emerges free from bubbles.
• Start the domestic water system for a short
period (approx. 20 sec.) so that the air will col-
lect in the pump housing.
• Switch off the domestic water system.
• Repeat the filling procedure until the pump and
inlet pipe have been completely vented.
• Continue commissioning with the pressure
switch setting.
WARNING!
The entire system can get very hot, depending
on the operating status of the domestic water
system (temperature of the fluid). Risk of burns
on contact!
NOTE:
The pump is not allowed to be operated for more
than 10 minutes with volume flow Q = 0 m
(closed stop valve).

8.3 Setting the pressure switch

NOTE:
The switch-on and switch-off pressures of the
pressure switch have been factory-set according
to the pump curve of the pump used (see rating
plate).
To adapt to local conditions, it is possible to
change or adapt the settings of the pressure
switch as follows.
The switch-off pressure (adjusting screw
Fig. 6a/6b or 6c/6d, item a) and the pressure dif-
ference (adjusting screw Fig. 6a/6b or 6c/6d,
item b) are set in relation to the switch-on pres-
sure at the pressure switch (EM version).
The switch-off pressure (adjusting screw
Fig. 7a/7b, item a) and the pressure difference
/h
3
(adjusting screw Fig. 7a/7b, item b) are set in rela-
tion to the switch-on pressure at the pressure
switch (DM version).
The following diagram describes the procedure for
setting the pressure switches.
