• The current type and the mains voltage must
comply with the details on the rating plate and
terminal diagram of the switchgear.
• For safety reasons, the pressure boosting system
must be properly earthed (meaning earthed in
accordance with the local regulations and condi-
tions); the terminals provided for this purpose are
marked accordingly (see also the terminal dia-
gram).
Connecting cable
The electrical connecting cable must be properly
dimensioned according to the total power of the
pressure boosting system (see rating plate).
Do not connect the switchgear to any voltage
other than that specified in the instructions (see
5.2 Technical data).
NOTE:
There is a wiring diagram with detailed informa-
tion provided in the switchgear and in Fig. 9a / 9b.
CAUTION! Risk of damage to the product!
Do not forget to connect the earth terminal!
Dry-running protection
An On-Off input (250 V 2 A) (Fig. 5, No. 1 and 2) is
provided to protect the pressure boosting system
from low water; a pressure switch (normally open
contact) or float switch needs to be connected to
this input for this purpose.
CAUTION! Risk of damage to the product!
Do not apply any additional external voltage to
the terminals!

8 Commissioning

CAUTION! Risk of damage to the product!
The system cannot be allowed to run dry at any
time. Dry running destroys the mechanical shaft
seals.
Before switching on the electrical power for the
first time, make sure the wiring is correct, espe-
cially the earthing.
CAUTION! Risk of damage to the product!
Tighten all terminals before commissioning the
system!

8.1 Filling the diaphragm vessel

Before commissioning, check and correct the gas
pressure on the diaphragm pressure vessel(s)
before the vessel is filled on the water side. The
gas pressure should be about 0.3 bar less than the
switch-on pressure of the pumps.
CAUTION! Risk of damage!
The maximum supply pressure of the vessel
must not exceed the maximum operating pres-
sure.
8.2 Filling – bleeding
When connected to municipal supply network or
with intake from break tank
• Check the incoming water supply (is the break
tank filled enough / is the supply pressure from the
municipal network correct).
• Open the intake valve upstream from the system
in order to fill the system with water.
22
• Open the vent screws on the pumps (see Fig. 1 -
No. 5) and wait until the water flows out freely
before closing them again.
• Hold the rocker switch (see Fig. 2 - No. 4) on
"Manual" in order to check the operation of the
pump. If necessary, test the pumps one after the
other.
Suction operation from break tank
• Close the stop valve on the pressure side.
• Open the stop valve on the suction side.
• Remove the vent screws.
• Using a funnel, slowly fill the pumps and suction
line completely.
• Filling is finished when water comes out and ven-
tilation is complete.
• Screw the vent screws back in firmly (see Fig. 1 -
No. 5)
• Hold the rocker switch (see Fig. 2 - No. 4) on
"Manual" in order to check the operation of the
pump. If necessary, test the pumps one after the
other.

8.3 Direction of rotation of the motors

The electrical connection of the pumps to the
switchgear is done at the factory. However, with
the three-phase version, the direction of rotation
must be checked, as follows:
• Make sure that the pressure boosting system has
been filled with water.
• Set the rocker switch for the pumps (see Fig. 2 -
No. 4) to "0".
• Set the main switch to On (1).
• Set the rocker switch for pump 1 to position
"Manual". The pump starts (the operation LED
lights up on the switchgear); now check the motor
for the correct direction of rotation (see operating
instructions for the pump).
• Follow the same steps for pump 2.
• To change the direction of rotation, exchange two
phases with each other.
DANGER! Danger of death!
Before changing the phases, switch off the main
switch to isolate the system from the electricity
supply.
• Then return the rocker switch for the pumps to the
"0" position.

8.4 Description of settings

8.4.1 Setting the pressure switch

The switch is set by turning nut No. 1 for the upper
switching point (for deactivation of the pump) and
nut No. 2 to set the lower switching point and the
pressure difference (for activation of the pump).
• Turning nut No. 1 clockwise increases the upper
switching point.
• Turning nut No. 2 clockwise reduces the lower
switching point (which makes the pressure differ-
ence greater).
The switch-on and switch-off pressure must be
selected before setting pressure switches PR1 and
PR2 (use the charts in Fig. 8 if necessary).
