1. Safety and care instructions
Safety instructions
1. People with limited physical, sensory or mental capacity or a lack of experience and/or a lack of knowledge
should not use the thermometer unless they are being supervised and instructed by a carer.
2. The product, including its accessories, is not a toy. Keep the thermometer out of reach of children.
3. Do not expose the thermometer to excessive vibrations or heat or high levels of humidity and avoid excess
mechanical stress.
4. Always store and use the thermometer in a dry environment.
5. Be careful when handling the probe, as it is sharp. After using and cleaning the probe, place the protective cap
back on the probe.
6. Always keep the probe clean as it comes into contact with food.
7. The thermometer must never be used in a closed oven, grill/barbecue or microwave.
9. The probe may be hot after use. To avoid burns, let it cool down before starting with the cleaning.
10. Make sure that the correct battery type is used and always insert these with the correct polarity.
11. When replacing batteries, always use new ones of the same time and never with visible damage – this could
lead to overheating or explosions.
12. Never short-circuit or dismantle batteries or throw them into the fire. Risk of explosion!
13. The batteries of this thermometer are not rechargeable.
14. Remove the batteries if the thermometer is not used for a longer period of time to avoid damage due to
possible battery leakage.
15. The battery should be replaced as soon as the LCD becomes weak. Please take note of the environmentally
responsible disposal of the battery under the point Battery disposal.
16. Should the thermometer exhibit damage, stop using the device and have it repaired by a specialist or contact
our customer service. Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the thermometer yourself. Interfering with the
device will void the guarantee.
Care instructions
The Digital Thermometer SCALA® is not dishwasher-safe. Do not submerge the thermometer in liquid and take care
to avoid liquids penetrating the keypad. Do not use the keypad with wet hands. The thermometer and probe can
be wiped off with a damp cloth.
Battery disposal
Batteries do not belong in general household waste. As a consumer, you are obliged by law to return used batteries.
You can return your used batteries at local authority collection points or anywhere selling batteries of this type
Disposing of the digital thermometer
The symbol on the product or its packaging indicates that this product should not be treated as
normal household waste, but should be handed in at a collection point for the recycling of electrical
and electronic equipment. For more information, contact your local authority, the municipal waste
disposal company or the shop where you purchased the product
2.Purpose and use
Thank you very much for purchasing this digital thermometer. This device is intended for random measuring of
temperatures in various types of food.
The thermometer is designed for private household use only and may not be used for commercial purposes. Never use the
device for anything other than its intended purpose. Please retain the user manual and the packaging in case of future
queries as well as later use and also pass it on to third parties along with the thermometer.

7. First use
• Check the item for damage before each use. The thermometer must not be used if it exhibits visible signs of
damage.
• The sensitive probe tip has a protective cap for safety. Remove this before each use and replace after using and
cleaning the device.
• Use a damp cloth to clean the probe before use. Please note the details under cleaning when doing so.
• Before first use, your digital thermometer's display will be covered by a protective film. Please remove this
before first use.
Thermometer usage instructions
1. Press the "ON/OFF" button to switch on the thermometer. The display will show the current ambient
temperature. A switch in the battery compartment allows you to switch to the Fahrenheit unit of measure.
2. After setting the desired display, submerge or insert the temperature probe about 2 cm into the food or beverage
to be measured. As soon as the display remains constant, the measurement process is complete (4 - 10 sec.).
3. To measure the temperature when roasting and baking, open the oven, pull out the food to be measured and
measure the temperature as described above. Remove the thermometer again before pushing the food back into
the oven.
4. Then press the "ON/OFF" button again to switch off the thermometer. The selected unit of measure is saved after
switching off the thermometer. The thermometer automatically switches off after 15 minutes.
5. Clean the probe and place the protective cap back on.
Changing the batteries
1. Remove the cap on the back side.
2. Remove the old battery.
3. Insert a new LR1154 button cell, noting the correct polarity.
4. Close the battery compartment.
5. The temperature is shown in °C after changing the battery.
