1. Shift the rear derailleur to the smallest
sprocket (largest gear).
2. Tighten the cable adjustment ring
as tightly as possible so that you have
space to adjust it later (at the end of the
shift cable).
3. Adjust the upper restrictor from the H
screw in such a way that the derailleur is
level with the smallest sprocket.

4. If necessary, tighten the cable by loo-
sening the cable fastener, pulling the
cable tight and tightening the fastener
again.
5. Shift the rear derailleur to the fourth or
fifth sprocket.
6. Adjust the indicator by turning the cable's adjustment ring so that the derailleur's
control wheel is placed under the selected sprocket. In case of Shimano's rear derail-
leur, the control wheel works best when placed slightly inwards from the sprocket. Try
shifting the gears a few times to ensure that the adjustment is correct.
7. Shift the gear to the largest sprocket. (Smallest gear)
8. Adjust the lower limiter by turning the L screw of the derailleur so that the derailleur
is level with the largest sprocket.
9. Adjust the B tensioning screw so that the control wheel of the rear derailleur is as
close as possible to the cassette's largest sprocket, however, not in contact with it.
The shifting system is also adjusted in connection with the initial service when the
first 100-150 kilometres of use have set the components in their final positions. For
this reason, the initial service is extremely important for the shifting system to ensure
a long service life for the chainset and the cassette.
