3.5 Brakes

NOTE
Do not use the brake lever when the disc brake's disc is not in place. In
case of some brakes, the gap between the brake pads is adjusted automa-
tically so that the disc can no longer be put back in place if the lever has
been fully depressed without a brake disc.
Adjusting hydraulic disc brakes
Hydraulic disc brakes have been pre-adjusted, so they do not usually require ad-
justments. However, if you wish to make adjustments to the brakes, we recommend
that the work is carried out by a professional. The brakes are also adjusted in conne-
ction with the initial service.
1. Loosen the two directional nuts, but do not remove
them. The brake calliper can now move on the nuts.
Rotate the wheel slowly and check the gap between
the rotor and the brake pads.
2. Adjust the brake pads in such a way that the rotor
does not rub, and it is slightly closer to the outer brake
pad (the distance between the rotor and the brake pad
must be sufficient to prevent rubbing). Ensure that the
rotor and brake pads are parallel with each other.
3. Tighten the bolts when you have completed the
adjustments. Rotate the wheel to check that
the brakes do not rub.
Adjusting mechanical disc brakes
1. Loosen or tighten the adjustment ring at the connection point of the brake cable at
the end of the brake lever. In this way, the gap of the brake pads can be slightly ad-
justed. If this is not sufficient to reach a suitable gap, carry out the following measures:
