The brake system has fully automatic pad compensation. This compensates for the
wear of the brake pads and ensures that the pressure point of the brake always
remains the same.
The front brake has a stronger deceleration effect than the rear brake.
Therefore, practice targeted use of the front brake to familiarise yourself
with the force of the brake.
An initial squealing of the disc brakes in wet conditions is normal, but should
disappear when the brake discs are dry braked.
Risk of roll-over when using the front wheel brake forcefully!
You can go over the handlebar!
-> Apply less force to the front brake lever or release the front brake lever
when you notice the rear wheel rising.
Especially after long descents, the brake discs and brake calliper can get
hot. Touching them may cause burns.
-> Do not touch the brake system with your hands after heavy braking.
The braking distance may increase if the road surface and the braking sys-
tem are wet.
→ Adapt your driving style to the prevailing conditions.
2.9. Bedding-in brake pads
When delivered, your brake system initially only has a weak braking effect, as the
surfaces of the brake disc and brake pads have not yet been used for braking. With
your new vehicle and also if you change the brake disc and brake pads, you should
bed-in the disc brakes as follows:
• Accelerate the vehicle to approx. 25 km/h
• Decelerate to a stop using both brakes
• Repeat the procedure until the braking effect improves sufficiently. Recommen-
dation for the Magura: 30x.
