Fitting with the sprocket
Make sure that the belt is always clean and that there are no foreign bodies between
the belt and the pulleys. The belt and pulleys can be rinsed with water for cleaning.
You can eliminate any short-term noises in the belt drive with a silicone
spray after cleaning.
The Gates Carbon Drive System is sensitive to snow/ice. Before driving in
winter, remove icing/snow clogs between belt and pulleys.
If there are persistent noises in the belt drive, we recommend having the vehicle
inspected by a workshop with experience in Gates Carbon Drive.
6.7.3. Chain
Ensure that the chain is always clean and has a sufficient lubricating film. If the chain
is dry (without lubrication) or dirty, then:
•
Clean the chain with a dry or lightly oiled rag.
•
Lubricate all chain links centrally with a small drop of oil on the side facing side
facing the sprockets/chainring.
•
Rotate the chain backwards a few times with the crank.
•
Allow the oil to soak into the chain briefly.
•
Finally, pull the chain through a clean rag to remove any superficial oil remo-
ved.
