A risk analysis according to DIN V 19250 was conducted for the 7SJ62/63/64 protec-
tive relays. Requirement class 3 is fulfilled provided all settings are properly made and
the application notes given in this additional sheet and in the corresponding manuals
are adhered to. A mono-redundancy combination of the protection equipment with
monitoring relay and/or break-circuit will thus be sufficient.
If the version 7SJ63/64 with detached operator panel is used an emergency shut-
down feature must be placed next to the device.
When applying the 7SJ62/63/64 device for protection of explosion proof electric ma-
chines it must be considered that in case of device failure the time-overcurrent protec-
tion is no longer guaranteed as protection against unadmissible temperatures. Device
failure is signalled by the internal standby relay via NC contact. This contact can be
used to shut down the machine or to bring the process into a secure state.
The 7SJ62/63/64 protective relay can only operate to ensure utmost safety if under-
voltage circuit breaker are used and the life-contact of the protection device is included
in the tripping circuit.
Figure 7-1 shows a connection circuit in which inversion of the tripping signal is imple-
mented via a binary input and an additional output relay of the protection device.
