7.5.3 • Acoustics
• Certain situations can require the use of acoustic insulation material [e.g. bedrooms, open
kitchens]
– If the extraction line between the extraction point and the ventilator unit is shorter than 3
metres, the use of a silencer (Acoudec) is strongly recommended in order to avoid possible
noise nuisance.
– If the extraction line between the extraction point and the ventilator unit is shorter than 1
metre, a silencer MUST be used (Acoudec).
– When spiral ducts are used, use of a silencer (Acoudec) is always strongly recommended in
order to minimise noise nuisance.
• Always install the silencer as close as possible to the ventilator unit/control module.
• When one or more rooms are connected via air ducts, collectors, etc., use of a silencer
(Acoudec) is strongly recommended in order to avoid possible noise nuisance ('crosstalk'
between the different rooms). The silencer(s) should be installed between the extraction point
and the connection point.
• For additional noise insulation, sound insulating material can also be installed downline of the
extraction grille. Ensure here that the preset air flow is still achieved.
Avoid sharp bends (< 90°) in the pipework. Also limit the number of bends in the lines in
order to limit the resistance in the duct network! In this way, the ventilator unit can operate at
a lower pressure level. A unit with a lower pressure setting is always more energy-efficient and
quieter.
