Measurement:
The minimum insulation resistance of the windings against earthing is measured with 500V direct voltage. Thereby the
temperature of the windings shall have 25°C ±15°C. The critical insulation resistance is to be measured with operating
temperature of the winding with a 500V DC voltage.
Inspection:
If with new or cleaned winding or with repaired motor, which have been stored for a longer period of time or has been
shut down, the minimum insulation resistance of the winding against earthing is lower than 10 MegaOhm, then humidity
may be the cause of this. The windings have then to be dried.
After longer operating time the minimum insulation resistance can decrease to the critical insulation resistance.
The motor may be further operated, as long as the measured value does not undercut the calculated value of the critical
insulation resistance. The motor must be switched off immediately if this value is undercut. The cause for it must be
determined, the windings or winding sections must be repaired, cleaned or dried, if necessary.
6.2 Commissioning
- the terminals have partially dangerous voltage and may not be touched during and
immediately after the measurement as well as with rotating rotor!
- danger by rotating rotor
- protect drive elements with shock-proof protection
Before the commissioning, the specifications and instructions in the supplied operating instructions are to be
considered! After the installation of the motors the brake (if available) is to be checked for correct functioning!
- check the measurements for protection against accidental contact for moved and live parts.
- adhere the maximum permissible rotational speed N
- voltage and frequency must correspond with the data on the rating plate. The motors can be
operated at the converter with line voltages up to 500V (voltage front sides ts<0,1ms<500V).
Special measures are necessary for higher power connection voltages.
- ±5% voltage deviations are admissible without performance reduction.
- In order to guarantee a reliable start-up and/or sufficient pullout torque reserves, a voltage increase in
the lower frequency range of approx. 10...20% of the 50 Hz-dimension voltage can be necessary,
consultation with the factory of the manufacturer, if necessary.

- Generator operation:

By short-circuiting of the terminals (also via resistances) the coasting time of the motor can be considerably
reduced. The slowing-down by short-circuited stator winding has with SIEMOSYN-motors no harmful influence on
the permanent magnets.
NOTE: electromagnetical compatibility; RFI-emission:
With supply by converters different strong RFI-emissions occur depending upon
converter design (type, EMI-suppression measures). EMC notes and EMI-suppression
measures of the converter manufacturer must be considered.
If the converter manufacturer recommends a screened motor supply lead, then the screen is most effective, when it is
connected over a large surface area at the metal terminal box of the motor (with metal screw connection).

Interference immunity:

At motors with installed sensors (e.g. PTC-resistors) interference voltages may occur on the sensor line due to the
converter.
The operator must provide for sufficiant interference resistance by a suitable selection of the sensor signal
lead (if necessary with screening, connection as with motor supply lead) and the tripping unit.
